Getting help
Write to dev@fafutur.com. One person reads it. Say which build you are on — Settings shows the version at the bottom of the Data section — and what you did just before the thing went wrong. A screenshot helps.
A crash needs nothing from you. We have no crash reporter of our own; if you have chosen to share crash reports with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may pass them to us, in aggregate.
Questions people ask
Do I need an account?
Not for the cellar. Every screen works signed out: the cellar, the recommendations for tonight, the stock maths, the restock list, the tasting table and the blind game are all computed on your device, with no network.
The AI features do need one, because they cost real money to run and an account is how that is counted. Sign in under Settings → Account — email and a password, a sign-in link by email, Sign in with Apple, or Google. It is a Fabrique Accounts account, shared with our other apps; it never receives your cellar file.
What is the AI allowance?
Every account has a free monthly AI allowance. Nothing is bought or sold in the app.
What happens when the allowance runs out?
The AI features pause until the next month, and the app says so. Everything else carries on exactly as before — nothing in your cellar is locked, and no screen disappears.
What do the AI features send, and can I turn them off?
Before any of them runs, the app asks once for your permission and names Anthropic (Claude), with OpenAI and Google as backups if it is unavailable. You can turn AI off again in Settings (Turn off AI, under Account). They run only when you trigger them, never in the background. What each one sends is listed in section 5 of the privacy policy.
Where does my cellar live?
In one JSON file in the app's own storage on your device. It never comes to us, and signing in does not change that. To have the same cellar on your iPhone, iPad and Mac, turn on Settings → Data → Sync with iCloud on each of them: the file is kept in sync through the private iCloud database of your own Apple Account, which we cannot read. Without it, moving the cellar is the export and import below. The Assistant is the one place where parts of the cellar leave the device: it sends an index of your cellar to the AI company (Anthropic's Claude) so it can answer from what you own, as the privacy policy describes.
How do I back it up?
Settings → Export the cellar file hands the file to the share sheet: send it to yourself, drop it in Files, keep it on a computer. Import a cellar file… replaces the cellar with a file you pick, and takes a backup of what was there first. Settings lists those backups by date and restores any of them.
Export before you do anything drastic. The backups are on the same device, so they do not survive the device. iCloud sync is not a backup: a delete syncs too.
How do I delete everything?
Settings → Data → Delete everything, behind one confirmation: every wine, tasting and guest, on the device. To remove the lot — the cellar file and the backups — delete the app.
To delete your account and its usage rows, open Settings → Account → Delete account. You can also write to dev@fafutur.com and ask us to delete it.
Why are photos sent anywhere?
Because reading a receipt, a label or a rack is the one job the device cannot do on its own, and the model that can do it runs on an AI company's machines (Anthropic's, or OpenAI's or Google's as backups). A photo is sent only at the moment you use one of those features, through the Fabrique Accounts service, which forwards it and does not keep it.
Does it work offline?
Yes, apart from the AI features and the supplier links, which need the network by definition. On a plane, in a cellar with no signal: the wines, the search, tonight's recommendations, the drinking windows, the stock cover, opening a bottle and logging a verdict all work. The app tells you when a feature needs the network instead of failing quietly.
Something looks wrong in the app
A number that seems wrong usually has its maths behind the small i next to it. Read that first: it says what the number was built from. If it is still wrong, email a screenshot to dev@fafutur.com — a recommendation that cannot be explained is a bug worth fixing.
